ntp_response
Network Time Protocol Response

The ntp_response probe tests Network Time Protocol response by requesting status information from the ntp server; or in the case of an SNTP server, requesting the current time.

Alarm messages can be generated based on the response time and the state of the ntp server. Also, quality of Service (QoS) messages can be generated based on availability and state.

What's New:

  • Updated support for the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 package version 1.01 (vs2017_vcredist_x86 1.01 and vs2017_vcredist_x64 1.01). This ensures compatibility with VS 2017 package versions equal to or greater than 1.01.
  • Added support for the following metrics:
    • QOS_LEAP: Monitor NTP server leap status.
    • QOS_SERVER_SYNC_OFFSET: Track the time offset of the NTP server since the last synchronization.
    • QOS_TIME_DRIFT: Monitor NTP server time drift per day.

  • (IM Interface only) Added support for:
    • AES-128 encryption that is required for FIPS compliance
    • Monitor Windows systems where FIPS encryption is enabled
For more information, see Enable FIPS Encryption section.
Fixed Defect:
- The probe displayed incorrect values for NTP Response time on entering a value greater than 32000 ms through the probe configuration interface. Support case number 632899
- (On Linux) The probe did not connect to the NTP Server after restarting the NTP services. Support case number 434182
- The probe supports monitoring with an IPv6 environment.
Important! The system, where CA UIM is installed, must be configured with dual stack (IPv4-IPv6).
