lync_monitor
lync_monitor Probe

The lync_monitor probe monitors the health and performance of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 by gathering information about Performance of the server and the audio and video quality of network media. Additionally, the probe collects usage information (CDR) about Lync Server, which helps you to calculate the return on investment of your deployment and also enables you to plan future growth of your deployment.
The lync_monitor probe is delivered with a default configuration with a selected set of profiles to be monitored. The profiles are grouped in seven predefined groups or categories, as follows:
  • Eventlogs: Monitor Windows event logs for specific event contents.
  • Files: Monitor specific files.
  • Filesystems: Monitor file systems for specific patterns.
  • Performance counters: Monitor performance counters for QoE Monitoring Server, CDR Service, LDM Memory, Mediation Server etc;
  • Processes: Monitor different processes running on the system.
  • Services: Monitor lync related services.
  • WMI: Monitor specific WMI classes.

  • Installation notes

  • In order to monitor the lync server, Nimbus robot (version 3.02 or above) should be installed on the server.
  • Install 'lync_monitor' package into your local archive.
  • Drop the package from your local archive to the targeted robot.
  • Double click the probe in the Nimbus Manager.
  • Configurator opens with a default set of profiles in an inactive state.
  • Activate the profiles to start monitoring.

  • Notes

    For each activated 'Eventlog' profile, the probe scans windows events on the lync server from the last scanned event entry to match the given criteria. If the system generates large number of events between the interval, then scanning large number of events may affect the performance of the system.
